Band History

The Band's history goes back to the 1920's when the Mid Argyll Piper's Society recruited drummers to help promote Highland bagpipe music.

 

 

The image below shows when the band was believed to have been formed. It shows the first Pipe Major as PM Neil Crawford.

 

Since those early days the band has been constantly evolving.

Neil Crawford, Henry McGuinness, Craig Campbell, Rod Buchanan, Arthur Gillies, Tony Higgins, Iain Halliday, Nick McLean, Struan Thorpe, Craig Lang (Current PM).

 

Former Leading Drummers

Peter McArthur, Donnie Cameron, Ian Johnstone, John Wilson, Norman McLellan, Hugh McDonald, Donald MacLachlan, Campbell Maloney, Neil Hutchison, Dave Martin, Alistair Maule (3 terms), George Hall, Brian Hastings, Robert Smith (Current Drum Sergeant).
